Our approach to sustainability is rooted in our Core Values. Our sustainability strategy aligns with our commitment to continuous improvement and to being the employer, partner, and investment of choice, and is centered on three guiding principles:

Our ethical standards are rooted in obeying the law and doing the right thing, which includes adherence to our Code of Business Conduct and the related policies and practices it details, including our policies regarding Respectful Workplace, Anti-Harassment, and Equal Employment Opportunity.

Environmental Stewardship
Safety and Environmental Stewardship is a core value at Plains and that includes minimizing the impact of our activities and operations on the environment and neighboring communities. We strive to be responsible stewards of the energy resources needed to operate our business.

Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Plains has a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Strategy that outlines our approach to seeking GHG reduction opportunities while maintaining capital discipline and simultaneously pursuing long-term value creation for our stakeholders, in alignment with our sustainability strategy.
Biodiversity and Conservation
Plains has a Biodiversity Policy that outlines our commitment to supporting healthy ecosystems, protecting ecologically and culturally sensitive areas, and minimizing our environmental footprint. It describes our approach to conservation and biodiversity, as well as the steps we take to avoid and minimize environmental impacts.
We prioritize the safe and effective operation, construction and expansion of existing assets. Safe and effective construction activities involve the avoidance and minimization of environmental impacts. This is accomplished through proactive engagement with stakeholders potentially impacted by these activities, including private landowners, indigenous and underserved communities, and local, state, provincial and federal regulatory entities.
We also work to improve local ecosystems within the areas where we operate, including planting native species on rights of way, cultivating habitats for native pollinators and improving ecological conditions for endangered species. We also partner with conservation non-profits to preserve natural ecosystems.
